Today we went out to the Chico Basin Ranch and guided a hunt for the Box T Cowboys. It was a nice 40 degree day and the quail were flying. Rio, Josie, Willow and Murphy did a great job putting up the birds. Each of them had their time to shine. They worked hard and at the end of the morning 16 quail were shot. We came home, hosed off the mud and they were so tired they all crashed taking a well deserved nap.

Box T Cowboys hosted there first Quail Flurry. It was a great day. The weather was nice and the quail were flying. There were morning and afternoon hunts, along with clay shooting all day. A good time was had by all.

I guided for several groups. Murphy, Rio, Izzie, Willow, Josie and Abby, a dog just finishing our training program did a fantastic job making the hunting easy and enjoyable.

Thanks to Duke Phillips and Jonathan Tullar of the Chico Basin Ranch and Box T Cowboys for providing a memorable day!

1-9-10

Busy week! Doing a lot of training! We had some pretty cold weather this week. It dipped down below 0 a few times, but we are now back to 50.

My new project with Breeze is going well. It has been fun so far. Check it out. “Zero to Hunt”

We have another busy week ahead!

1-1-10

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Another year has come and gone. Pretty fast I might add. 2009 was a little tougher for us than years past, as it was for a lot of people, but we made it through and are looking forward to 2010!

The last of the puppies have left. (Except Breeze) Ruby flew to Idaho and Bonnie landed in Japan a couple of days ago.

Over the next few days we will start deciding who our upcoming litters will be with for 2010. We always look forward to new puppies! I’m sure we will try for litters with Izzie & Lacey and we are looking forward to Willow’s first litter.

I have been a little reluctant in starting a new project , mostly because of the commitment level it is going to take but I have decided to get started today!

The project is going to be called “ZERO TO HUNT”

The just of it is I am going to take Breeze from now at the age of 10 weeks to a fully fledged hunter. If you have a puppy that you want to train or you just want to follow along, you can.

The commitment on my part is that I am going to write a separate blog with an entry every day describing what we are doing for training and our progress through an accelerated program all the way to a hunt on opening day in Kansas, November 2010. At that time She will be just a year old.

Look for the link to the new blog later today. It will be fun and I will be excited to hear from anyone who is bringing their dog or pup along with the program or just following along.

That’s it for now. See you out on the cyber training field!

12-19-09

Twas a week before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, except about 15 dogs!

Another week is in the books. Were down to just 3 puppies running through the house. I miss all the ruckus. Sometimes I think I must be crazy. I’m being drug out to finish up some shopping today.

If you’re looking for some last minute gifts, check out uplanders.com. Saw some neat stuff their yesterday.

Well it’s off to train some dogs. Have a Merry Christmas!

12-12-09

It’s finally warming up a little around here. Got up to 46 today. That’s a lot better than the -19 we had earlier this week.

Jenni drug me out for a while tonight to do some Christmas shopping. Probably could have done without that.

only puppies left here are the ones flying and of course Breeze. It will be Bonnie and Breeze for Christmas. Ruby will hopefully fly out on the 21st to be with her new family. Other than that, not much going on. Kind of nice to have a little slow down. Should have my new project ready to share in the next day or so.

12-04-09

It’s been a busy week here. Training dogs, Hunts, arranging flights for puppies and then all the normal stuff that goes on here.

Just a few more days and Rio’s puppies start going home. It seems just like yesterday that they were born. With all the puppies lately, I think we are ready for a break. We will still have our puppy here and Kota, although he is getting so big that it’s hard to call him a puppy still. We will also have Bonnie here with us for Christmas. It’s going to be hard to see her leave. We have become so attached to her. She is such a loving little dog.

I am working with Kota now. He is such a strong willed dog. I love that. They make the best hunters. I am also looking forward to getting Breeze out and start training her. I have wanted a Rio – Murphy puppy for a long time now. Next week I will share my new project. It’s going to be a huge commitment on my part, so I have to get myself in the mindset that I have to work on it every day. Look to hear more about it in my next blog. I think it will be fun!

11-27-09

Well I feel like I have really fallen short lately with the dog blogs. I have found that there are people out there that actually read what I write here. I guess I could make all kinds of excuses as to why I haven’t been very consistent, like multiple litters of puppies, gone hunting, busy training dogs, guiding hunts and the list goes on. In the end they’re just excuses.

Today I have found a new commitment to the dog blogs. Finding that there are people who wait to read them and wait for the next one has flipped the switch for me and I plan to sit down and write here at least once a week. If you don’t see that, send me an e-mail and call me on it.

A few months back I tied the Dog Blogs to Twitter. This has bothered me since the beginning. Twitter limits the amount of content I can put in a post. This changed the way that the Dog Blogs looked. It went from a story type format to short little blurbs. I’m sure that Twitter has its place, but I have come to the conclusion that it is not in Dog Blogs.

So, as of today, Dog Blogs will no longer be tied to Twitter. We will continue to use Twitter to announce the birth of puppies and special events.

Jenni and I feel very blessed that with the way things are going around the country right now, RVK continues to grow, we continue to increase our business and meet and make new friends and mostly we have the opportunity to love the greatest dogs in the world. It really is all about the dogs! If you haven’t had a chance to read “Just A Dog” take a minute and check it out. It sums everything up TOTALLY.

We are very excited about two new members of our family. The first is Kota. He is a six month old male and we can’t wait to get him out hunting. I am working with him now and hope he will see some action before the end of the season.

The second is Breeze. She is just 5 weeks old right now. She is from the last Rio litter and the possibilities that she brings to the table feel almost unlimited to me. I have been thinking about a special project for a while now and I think she is going to be part of it. You’ll have to check back later to hear more about that.

Anyway, it feels good to just sit down and write and babble on. Rio is laying on my feet and I think she is enjoying it too.

11-01-09

Wow! Rio’s puppies are 12 days old today and Lacey’s puppies are going home tomorrow. Time has flown by!

10-20-09

After a hard labor and a c-section, we have 4 large and healthy puppies! 1 male and 3 females!

10-20-09

Rio has started into labor! We hope to see some puppies soon!

10-11-09

Wow! Time has just flown by. Lacey’s puppies are now 4 weeks old.

Rio puppies are due in just a week. She has moved into the house now. (And taken over)

I have been so lazy lately. I will have some new recipes up today.

Only a month left until I am off to Idaho to do some hunting, see some old friends and meet some new ones. Can’t wait!

9-16-09

In my e-mail yesterday I mentioned how much we LOVE what we do.

Early this morning the part I Hate and will never understand fell upon us. We lost one of the little boys.

Earlier in the evening Lacey was visibly upset and whimpering. I knew something was wrong, just didn’t know what. She finally separated him from the rest of the litter. She worked for hours licking him to try to save him.

In the end she and I sat on the floor together. I held him in my arms and she licked him as he passed about 2:15 this morning. She was very upset as was I. This happens sometimes, but I will never get use to it.

She is back on track now caring for the others who are still growing and getting more rambunctious. It is unbelievable how fast they grow.

We will take the little boy this morning and lay him to rest under the elm trees with some of our other friends. After we get through the morning we will again begin to live the joy that all these puppies bring.

9-15-09

Lacey had 7 puppies yesterday! 4 males & 3 females. All are fat and healthy.

9-13-09

Lacey is in labor and we expect to see some puppies sometime in the wee hours of the morning.

9-10-09

No puppies yet. Lacey looks like she is ready to pop. She has made camp on the couch. She thinks she’s having them there. Puppy Cam will be back up after the puppies are born.

9-6-09

Follow along with the birth of Lacey’s puppies. We will have live updates on Twitter.

9-6-09

We can feel Lacey’s puppies moving all around now. She is spending a lot of time resting. We could have puppies any time now!

9-2-09

We felt Lacey’s puppies move today! Won’t be long.

8-29-09

Lacey is slowing down a little now. (If that’s possible) She is starting some nesting activities and we should have some puppies pretty soon. Can’t wait. It’s been a year and a half since we brought her home from Missouri and we can’t wait to see the puppies she and Murphy will bring us!

8-28-09

I dusted off the old side by side and took her out a test run today. Made an afternoon of it and shot 250 clays. Thought I would brush up a little and get ready for some hunting.

The preserve season opens next week and the dogs and I are ready for some hunting!

8-24-09

Time flies! Lacey is at day 47 of her pregnancy and Willow is at day 38. We are also expecting puppies from Rio October 15th. We are very excited!

Summer conditioning and training has stepped up now in anticipation of the upcoming hunting season. All the dogs are working out hard.

7-17-09

We have had successful breedings with Willow & Jake and also Lacey and Murphy. If all goes well we should have 2 litters of pups in September!

7-1-09

Today we were informed by the vet that Izzie has no pups. We are very disappointed. We were looking forward to a batch of puppy paws.

6-7-09

Not a lot going on here lately. Izzie is at day 24 in her pregnancy and is doing well so far. She hasn’t slowed down much yet. About another 3 weeks and she will move into the house full time.

I can’t remember when we have had this much rain and had to do this much mowing. We have lots of cover out in the training fields. It’s great!

Oh! Today is mine and Jenni’s anniversary. 14 years she has put up with me. There should be some sort of prize for that! Guess I better find one

5-16-09

Well it’s been a while and a lot has happened. Isabelle has come into heat a little early and we have now bread her to Jake. We are expecting puppies about July 16th. Can’t wait for the puppies. It’s been a while!

The RVK Store is up and running! We still have a lot of work to do with it and we are adding more and more products. It’s been slow coming as it has been a lot more work then I had originally planed and as you may or may not know, html does not come easy to me. Keep checking back as we add more great stuff. Our custom embroidery shop is up and running. If you have a custom logo, pic of your dog or anything else, we can put it on a shirt or coat for you . Just let us know and we can shoot you a quote.

Willow ended up having a small hernia at her belly button. She had a quick surgery to repair it. Dr Rob said it had most likely been there since she was born and it was no big deal, just something we would want to fix before she has pups. Everything went well and we can’t wait until she comes into heat. She has really made her mark in the field this year and we are excited about the pups she will produce!

Jenni and I went to the Western Sportsman’s Show Yesterday. We meet some nice people from the Colorado Gun Dog Association and Zoom Dog Sporting Dog Supplements. We hope to make their products available on our site soon!

We decided to join the Colorado Gun Dog Association. Looks to be a great group of people that enjoy pointing dogs. We look forward to participating in all the activities they have planed. Should be a lot of fun!

All the dogs are rested up from the hunting season and it’s about time to start our summer training program to make sure everyone stays in shape for fall. We have a couple of nice dogs at the kennel right now looking for new homes. If you’re looking for a new hunting buddy for the fall Jager or Mojo may be just what the doctor ordered. Both are ready to hunt this fall.

One last quick note. Check out this web site; www.gundogdoc.com . This guy is a vet and is devoted to the health and issues of gun dogs. Very informative and he has some podcasts you can download to your computer or iPod. Good stuff!

3-21-09

Once again this year we joined Rocky Mountain Roosters & some of America’s finest for a morning of pheasant hunting. Jason, Brandy and Silvia joined us from Fort Carson for what turned out to be a warm spring morning. Maya, Murphy, Jake, Josie, Rio and Willow did a great job putting an abundance of birds in the air and plenty fell for the table.

We enjoy volunteering our time for this event every year and we look forward to taking out some of those who keep us free and let us live in a great country where we can enjoy the sport of upland bird hunting.

GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!

2-28-09

Time just seems to be flying by lately. All of Rio’s pups have gone to their new homes and Rio has moved back out to the kennel. Last week she got out for her first hunt of the season and was fantastic!

Lacey has now taken Rio’s place in the house and is getting ready to have her pups at the end of March. She is doing well and starting to show all the signs!

The wild bird season has come to an end and there is just a few weeks left on the preserves. We are coming to the end of the build on our new trailer. All the doors should be arriving this week and then the dogs will be riding in style. I guess we have been pretty busy around here.

1-18-09

Most of the puppies have gone to their new homes now. It is a lot quieter here now. Just 2 left. Rio is recovering well and will soon be out with us to finish up the hunting season. We are looking forward to a little break until Lacey’s litter in the spring. Still lots of work around here as always.

1-13-09

Just one more day and Rio’s puppies start to go home. They have had their shots, been wormed and micro-chipped. They are ready for their new families. Rio is almost recovered and ready to get back out in the field hunting with us. Can’t wait for our next litter in the spring with Lacey.

12-21-08

WOW! The time has just flown by. Rio’s puppies are almost 4 weeks old. They have grown so fast and are becoming little dogs. Only a little over 3 weeks until they go home.

We went out and put on a hunt for a group of guys from Bechtel Construction for the second year in a row. There were a lot of birds and a lot of shooting. The dogs were great as usual and put up over 40 birds. A great time was had by all and there will be a lot of holiday game on their tables. We look forward to doing it again with them next year.

11-28-08

Today the puppies had their tails docked, dew claws removed and had their vet checks along with Rio. Everyone got a clean bill of health. Rio is a great mom and is doing an awesome job with this little mob. They are very active for just 2 days old.

11-26-08

Rio has done it again!! 7 large and healthy pups have arrived at RVK. Mom and pups are doing great!! Rio has made us proud again. 4 males and 3 females.

11-22-08

A fun and productive day of hunting was had by Greg & Ryan in Kiowa today. The dogs put up a lot of pheasants and chucker and a good time was had by all. After the hunt I prepared a meal with the freshly shot pheasants for Greg, Ryan and their families. Pheasant stuffed bell peppers. Look for this recipe on the site soon. Good eats and good company! Thanks for a great day guys.

11-12-08

We had a GREAT time and hunt in Kansas this last week. We were near Waterville Kansas. This was our first time hunting in this area and we enjoyed it a lot. The pheasant & quail hunting was good and the dogs were on their game as usual.

We did have a couple of mishaps. We lost Lacey for about 24hours, but got her back. Izzie got the worst skunk spraying I have ever had on a dog and Maya tore one of her pads. Everyone is good now and on the mend, but Izzie still smells a little and is probably going to for a while!

We delivered Misty to her new owners. Jim and Jeris were very surprised as she was a gift to them from their kids. Looks like another Range View puppy has found a great home.

A special thanks to the Anderson’s for having us out for the hunt and to Todd & Tammy Parker for putting us up in their home. The food, hospitality and accommodations were over the top! We hope to do it again!!

Look for some pics in the slide show on the”Guided Hunts” Page.

11-01-08

Annie has gone to a new home today. She has found a special calling. She has been chosen to train as a drug sniffing dog for law enforcement. We are very proud and will miss her.

We’re heading to Kansas this week to deliver Misty to her new owners and get in some pheasant and quail hunting. The dog line up for this trip will be Maya, Josie, Izzie, Murphy, Jake and Lacey. Looks to be a fun time!

10-27-08

We have moved Rio into the house this weekend to finnish out her pregnancy. She is starting to show all the signs and is spending a lot of her time just resting. Just about 30 days and the little pitter patter of paws will be heard again at RVK. We can’t wait!!

We are getting ready to head to Kansas for some pheasant hunting and the second weekend in November the quail season will open. Look for the reports on our new “Upland Hunting Reports” page. We will post up all the action.

10-7-08

Isabelle’s pups started going to their new homes today. Every time one leaves it feels just a little emptier here. I am sure they are settling in at their new homes.

We are looking forward to our next litter of pups from Rio & Timber.

10-4-08

Maya, Murphy & I volunteered today at the Colorado Department of Wildlife’s annual youth hunt. This is a program that teaches kids about the outdoors, gun safety, hunting upland birds and gives them a chance to harvest some game. It was a fun time and Maya & Murphy did a great job putting up birds. They shared a very nice lunch with us, we met some nice people and we enjoyed giving just a little back to the sport we love. This is a great program and we look forward to participating again next year.

10-3-08

Izzie’s pups got their micro chips today. Only 4 days until they can go home. They have become quite the little dogs.

9-30-08

We were informed today that Lacey does not have any pups and is going through a false pregnancy. She is showing all the signs of pregnancy, just no puppies. We were looking forward to her litter. We’ll keep her in the house for a while to help her get through this.

Isabelle’s pups had their first set of shots yesterday and continue to grow every day. Only a week until they go to their new homes. Where has the time gone!

9-01-08

Izzie’s pups are 2 weeks old today. They are growing fast. All their eyes are open now and they are starting to get up on all fours and move around. Today they will have their first worming and another nail clipping.

Lacey is due in about 5 weeks now. We are looking forward to another litter of pups.

8-22-08

8-02-08

We have Izzie up to the house now. Only about 16 days to go. We are getting the whelping room all set up and ready to go this weekend. She is settling in and starting to show us all the signs that the time is coming near.

8-01-08

Lacey has come into heat. We are planning to breed her to Murphy. Check back for updates on this litter.

7-16-08

Izzie is at the half way mark now. She is starting to get a little plump. We will move her up to the house this weekend to finish out her pregnancy.

6-15-08

Well we finished our new pigeon coop this weekend. We will now be able to house more birds for training. We also had our first breeding of Jake and Izzie today. We will breed 2 more times and hope for success. We are looking forward to another litter of Izzie pups!

6-08-08

We are very excited! Isabelle has started her heat cycle. Breeding with Jake will start soon and we will be expecting puppies mid August if everything goes well.

Jenni and I made a trip to Missouri over Memorial Day weekend to add a couple of new dogs to the kennel. Lance is a 1 ½ year old male and Lacey is a 4 year old female. We are planning a litter with her and Murphy soon. Watch for their pics soon. Both are awesome dogs and have fit right in here at RVK.

4-02-08

It is our goal to have some of our upland bird recipes up on the site this weekend. If you have one you would like to share, just shoot it over to us and we will put it up with your name.

4-02-08

Hunting season at the preserves ended on March 31st. We finished out the season with one of our new puppy owners and friends. Murphy, Jake, Josie, Izzie and Rio were on their game and put up an abundance of chucker to shoot at. The wind was a little on the strong side, but everyone still had a great time.

I dislocated my shoulder 2 weeks ago, so I am going to take another week off and then start spring and summer training. Primary focus will be getting Annie and Willow started and ready to hunt in the fall. We will continue to work and progress with Nikkie and we will be finishing up with Timber as he had a few hunts this year. Just a little clean up for him. The pigeon coop is full and ready to go.

The rest of the gang will have a summer of conditioning and running with the four wheeler keeping in shape for fall.

4-01-08

Maya had her last visit with the puppies last Thursday. They are eating puppy chow and are weaned. Maya has now moved back out to the kennel. The puppies have had their first vaccinations and have their Micro-chip now. This Saturday they go to their new homes.

3-23-08

We have started the weaning process with Maya’s puppies. They are now eating puppy chow and are having reduced visits from Maya. They will be all the way weaned by the end of the week.

The last of Rio’s puppies fly out tomorrow.

3-16-08

What another great night at the SCI fund raising banquet. They had a record night as they raised over $100,000 in the live auction. Over $70,000 stays right here in Colorado to defend hunter’s rights and further conservation efforts. Rowdy brought $550 toward that effort. He was a big hit and received a lot of pre-auction attention.

Here at Range View Kennels, we are proud to have made this contribution to Safari Club International and support all the efforts they make. Range View’s Rowdy Prairie Prince found a great new hunting home and helped make a difference at the same time.

we want to thank Colorado’s Chapter of SCI for giving us the opportunity to participate and help out. We hope to contribute to this great cause again in the future.

3-15-08

All the local puppies are going home today and tomorrow. Tonight is Rowdy’s big night. He will find his new Home.

3-14-08

Rio pups go home tomorrow. It has gone by so fast. It seems like yesterday when they were born. We have a couple of pups that will be here a little longer before they fly out to their new homes. Rowdy will go up for auction tomorrow night at the SCI fund raiser. Should be a great time as it always is.

Maya’s Puppies have started eating puppy chow mush. They seem to really be enjoying it. We will start to limit how much Maya is nursing them as we increase the feeding of puppy chow and start he weaning process.

3-7-08

Rio’s pups are all weaned now and Rio has moved back to the kennel. The pups will have their vaccinations tomorrow and get their chips on Tuesday. They continue to grow every day. Only one week until they go to their new homes.

Maya’s Puppies are also getting bigger every day. Maya is doing a great job caring for them.

2-26-08

Thanks to all our customers. We are sold out of puppies. We have been over whelmed with calls and e-mails from people looking for puppies. There has also been huge interest in our summer 2008 litter with Izzie and Jake, so we have decided to open the flood gates and start taking deposits on this litter. Izzie is due to come into heat in June, should deliver in August and puppies will go home in October. We will take 5 deposits and then start a waiting list. Thanks to Everyone for all the interest in our dogs, puppies and Kennel.

2-26-08

Maya’s puppies now have there eyes open. They are starting to get up on their legs a little also. Still growing more every day. Their ticking is changing every day also. So the word of the day is CHANGE.

Rio’s puppies are eating more and more puppy chow every meal. They are getting more and more responsive every day. When I come out to the whelping room there is a rush of tiny dogs over to the edge of the box to see me. It is suppose to be in the 60’s here this weekend, so the puppies will have their first excursion outside weather permitting.

2-23-08

Rio’s puppies had there first solid meal tonight. It was quite the site to see them go after it. We will start the weaning process in about a week. This week they will have 2 puppy chow meals a day.

Big day here at RVK. Maya gave us a scare today. We had to rush her back to the vets. Everything work out and she is doing fine. I can’t believe how fast these pups have grown. They are already starting to tick up. All have now been sold.

Puppy picks of Rio’s litter started today. The first 6 were made. Check out the “Puppies For Sale” page to see where their new homes will be. We are very excited for all our new puppy owners.

We are also excited to have the opportunity to donate our male puppy “B” to Safari Club International. This is a great origination that is dedicated to preserving hunting and shooting sports. They do a lot of great things here in Colorado and through out the US and world. Range View’s Rowdy Prairie Prince “Rowdy” will be auctioned off at their annual fund raiser banquet on March 15, 2008. All the proceeds will go to this great cause. Where ever you live, if you can go to an SCI Banquet, go. It is a great time and a great cause.

2-20-08

Well Maya and the pups are doing well. Maya is getting the bounce back in her step after her c-section and the puppies have doubled their weight. They had their tails docked & dew claws removed yesterday and received a clean bill of health. They are starting to tick up already. Maya is doing a great job caring for them.

2-16-08

Maya went into labor early this morning. She had her first pup at 2:21 am. She ran into some complications when one of the pups got stuck in the birth canal. She ended up having a c-section. We have three fat and healthy pups. Sadly the two trapped pups passed away.

2-9-08

Well it’s been a busy week here. Rio’s puppies are two weeks old now and they are doing great. She has been a great mom and has taken such good care of them. We set up a second whelping box to get ready for Maya’s litter. She has moved in to the house now. We are expecting her to deliver sometime near the end of next week. She is becoming uncomfortable and anxious. A sure sign that her time is coming near. Keep an eye out as she could have them at any time.

2-5-08

Congratulations to Kerri Horne & Tate at Shallowford Shorthairs in Marshall, North Carolina. Tate had 5 Jake sired pups yesterday. Can’t wait to see the pictures.

Jake’s A Daddy

2-4-08

We had a great day of hunting yesterday. It was our pleasure to take out 2 soldiers from Fort Carson in the Wounded Warriors Program. These are soldiers that have come back from Afghanistan and Iraq that are transitioning back to their units or to civilian life. The program gets them out and involved in some everyday and fun activities. We hunted at Rocky Mountain Roosters, who donated the hunt to the program and the dogs and I donated our time. Murphy, Jake, Izzie and Josie did a great job and put up an abundance of birds. There was a lot of pheasants and chucker. The Nathan & Gary started off slow but finished with a bang. We ended up with plenty of birds for the table. A great time was had by all. Thanks to Brett at RMR for allowing us this great opportunity to share some time with some guys who make our country the great, free place it is.

2-2-08

Well Rio’s puppies are a week old now and continue to grow every day. They are getting big fast. They are starting to move around a lot more. We should start to see some eyes in a few days.

1-29-08

The puppies had their vet check, tails docked and dew claws removed today. Dr. Baker said they are all very healthy and doing well. Rio is doing a good job with them.

1-26-08

Well we were pretty sure that Rio was getting ready to have her puppies last night. She was experiencing all the usual labor activities. She is a few days early, but far enough along that everything should be just fine. At 3 am this morning she licked and pushed on me to tell me it was time. I picked her up and moved her to the whelping box and the first little girl was born at 3:06 am. The next 2 came in about an hour each and then things started to speed up. The 8th was born at 8:36am. We think that is it but we are still waiting to see. She is now resting and the puppies are nursing. All the puppies are a good healthy size and are doing well. Rio is a great mom and we are very proud. Check back for updates. Tails docked and dew claws removed scheduled for Tuesday.

1-20-08

Well Rio is getting close to blessing us with another litter of puppies. 5 of them are already spoken for and we are excited for their new owners. She climbed up on the couch this morning and I could see little legs poking out. She has about 10 days left and is becoming very anxious and is starting to nest. A sure sign that it won’t be long.

1-06-08

Rio has about 25 days to go. She is really starting to plump up. We plan to bring her into the house next week to finish out her pregnancy. Look to see the Puppy Cam up after the birth of the puppies.

12-09-07

Willow our 8 week old bundle of joy, sired by Timber, has come home today. She has really taken to Annie and they have fast become best friends.

12-01-07

We had a successful breeding of Rio with Brodie and are expecting puppies January 31st.

11-19-07

Rio is in heat and due to breed any day. We will be expecting her pups the end of January.

11-05-07

It was a great weekend in Kansas. The weather was nice and there were a lot more birds than in previous years. We were camped at the Holiday Inn in Colby and hunted some walk in and some private land that we got permission to hunt on. There was a lot of good cover for the birds and the dogs were awesome. Maya, Josie, Rio and Murphy really out did their selves and worked hard to make sure everyone had lots of opportunities for birds. They are all tired after the weekend and I am sure they are looking forward to some lazy days back at the kennel. A young man named Trever was able to bag his first pheasant. I am not sure who was prouder, he or his dad. All in all it was a great trip and a lot of new friends and fun were made.

10-31-07

We are off to Colby, Kansas for the opening weekend of pheasant hunting. We are leaving Friday Morning and looking forward to another great season. The dog line up for this trip will be…. Murphy, Maya, Rio and Josie.

10-30-07

Wow! Izzie’s puppies have grown up fast. We only have one little girl left. We are hoping she stays with us and we will sell her as a started dog.

10-28-07

We are excited to now have the Avid Micro Chip Recovery System available to us. As of November 1st all Range View dogs will have the chip. We will also include the chip in all our future litters. This is just one more way we are trying to make all of our dogs and puppies safer when they leave RVK. The chip gives you, our customers a little more added value and security when you take one of our dogs home.

9-22-07

It was a nice day today so we took the puppies outside for the first time. They had a great time running around. We have cut them back now to one feeding a day from Izzie. They should be completely weaned in a couple of days. Izzie has now moved back out to the kennel.

9-15-07

Today was opening day at Rocky Mountain Roosters, a local hunting preserve. I went out with a good friend of mine, Todd Reynolds and we shot a limit of pheasants. Maya, Murphy, Rio, Josie, Jake and Rocky got their first bit of action for the new season. Everyone did a great job! We are looking forward to another great season of hunts. We moved the puppies to a taller box today. They were starting to get out of the smaller whelping box. They’re 4 weeks old now and really starting to get around and becoming little dogs.

9-11-07

Maya is doing good and has moved back out to the kennels today.

9-1-07

We decided today to move Maya’s pup in with Izzie’s pups so she would be better socialized. Izzie has seemed to accept her and is taking care of her as one of her own. Maya seems to be doing ok with the move. We will keep her in the house for a few days to make sure she dries up and there are no problems.

8-31-07

Maya’s pup had its tail docked and dew claws removed today and gets a clean bill of health at the vets.

8-29-07

Maya gave us a big surprise today. She had only one large female pup. She was unable to deliver it herself, so we were assisted by the vet.

8-21-07

All of Izzie’s pups had their dew claws removed and their tails docked today. Dr. Baker said they are all doing great and are in excellent health.

8-19-07

We’re saddened again today. We were never sure she was going to make it. The smallest of the puppies passed today. We called her the Wee One. She touched our hearts. Now she is hunting with her brother.

8-16-07

We’ve Got Puppies! Isabelle had a large litter of 10. We were saddened that one little boy was stillborn. We know he is hunting in a better place. The other 5 males and 4 females are healthy and doing great. Izzie is doing a great job caring for them!

8-05-07

This weekend Murphy once again competed in a NSTRA event in Rush, Colorado. We are very proud to announce he took a 4th Place. Way to go Murf!

8-03-07

WooHoo! Jake’s Home!!

8-01-07

Izzie moved into the house today to get ready to have her pups. She is realy starting to slow down.

7-30-07

Izzie looks like she is ready to pop. She has two weeks left and we will have puppies! Jake is finishing his training this week and comes home on Saturday. Just in time for pheasant season. We’re glad to have him back home. This weekend Murphy will be competing in another NSTRA trial. Looks like things are finally starting to pick up around here again!(Not that we didn’t have enough work)

7-25-07

We have acquired a new male “Timber”. We are excited to have him in our kennel.

6-26-07

We had a successful breeding today with Maya and Brodie. This is a repeat breeding. The 2005 litter was awesome! We will be expecting puppies end of August.

6-14-07

We had a successful breeding today with Izzie and Chip. We will be expecting puppies mid August.

6-3-07

Not much going on lately. Kind of nice for a change! Isabelle has started her heat cycle. We will start the breeding process soon. Jake has been with the Pace’s at Start to Finish Gun Dog Training finishing up his training. We look forward to his home coming soon!

6-1-07

Congratulations to Mark Pace Jr. and his wife. They had a baby girl today!!

4-25-07

WOW! We got pounded with snow again. We have more snow from this storm than we got from the other 3 blizzards combined. Time to get out the shovels again.

4-24-07

Check out the link to DOGS Unlimited on our links page. They are a Colorado Company that has about everything you need for dog training and supplies. They have a lot of stuff I have not seen anywhere else. Their custom shop can make you about anything you want in collars. We put their dura-lon collars on our last litter of pups….Very COOL! Let them know we sent you.

4-21-07

Today a little addition and remodel in the kennels. We’re expanding! Little more room for everyone here and some more room to expand our family!

4-17-07

Well the last Rio’s puppies left today. It seems so quiet and empty in the house now. We’re going to miss them, but we hope to soon have more little paws pitter pattering around the house.

3-29-07

The old dog sled gave up the ghost today…….so we replaced her. RVK gets a new Dodge Club Cab Truck. We’re really excited about all the extra room we now have for us and the dogs. Going to miss that old red truck. NOT!

3-5-07

On March 3rd & 4th 2007, Murphy competed in his first NSTRA event hosted by Steel Fork Pheasants and Start to Finish Gun Dog Training. We competed in two trials on Saturday and one on Sunday. This was my first trial also. In the past our primary focus has been on hunting, hunting and hunting. We were invited, so we thought we would give it a shot. On Saturday we competed on two fields. Murphy was GREAT. We took 1st on one field and a close 2nd on the other field. On Sunday we only competed on one field. Again, Murphy was GREAT. On our last bird I missed the shot and let Murphy down. We took a very close 2nd. My missed shot cost us the win. Over all we had an awesome weekend. If you have never tried field trials, I would recommend you do so. It was a lot of fun and we met a lot of great people. My hat is off to the folks of the Rocky Mountain Region NSTRA. They put on a excellent event. I am sure we will be back for another round. Look to see Isabelle running these events. This is certainly a venue she will excel at.

All sales are final and subject to the terms and conditions outlined below.

Health Guarantee:

Every effort will be made by Range View Kennels to assure the puppy/dog you have chosen will be in excellent health at the time of purchase. Our commitment and guarantee to you is that we will not knowingly sell a puppy/dog without disclosing any known health related conditions.

All puppies/dogs at Range View Kennels are under the excellent care of our licensed veterinarians. All animals on site will be current on all their vaccinations and have received the necessary treatments for any suspected internal or external parasites.

Since we are not licensed veterinarians we strongly recommend a health check- up be performed on any newly purchased puppy/dog. Our licensed veterinarians, prior to your purchase, can perform these procedures and issue a Health Certificate on the puppy/dog. All costs associated with the certificate will be the responsibility of the buyer and be in addition to the agreed to sales price.

If the buyer desires a certificate as a condition of the sale a request should be made prior to the purchase. The buyer must make the request no less than three (3) business days prior to taking possession of the puppy/dog.

We strongly suggest all buyers take their new puppy/dog to a licensed veterinarian of their choosing for an initial examination. They should also implement an effective health management program with their veterinarian and/or continue with the program started by our kennels.

To keep the guarantee offered to you by Range View Kennels valid, we must insist an initial visit to a licensed veterinarian be completed within seven (7) calendar days of receiving your puppy/dog. During the initial exam should your veterinarian find the puppy/dog to be at a health risk or detect any physical health problems that would require further veterinarian services, our kennel must be notified within 36 hours of the visit.

Conditions or treatments excluded from the guarantee and above-mentioned requirements shall include, but not be limited to, vaccinations and/or treatments for any type of internal or external parasites or bacterial conditions.

The sales guarantee does not include, cost reimbursement by Range View Kennels for the above-mentioned conditions or for any costs incurred by the buyer for veterinarian’s procedures or services performed. Fees charged for the initial examination, and any other procedures the veterinarian performs, or deems necessary to perform, are also not refundable and are the buyer’s responsibility.

In accordance with the above mentioned terms and conditions, we also guarantee the puppy/dog for seven (7) calendar days of receipt to be free of Parvo, Canine Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, and Para influenza. In the event your puppy/dog should be diagnosed with these conditions within the guarantee period, our kennel must be notified within 36 hours of the diagnosis.

The puppy and all related paperwork must be returned to the seller accompanied by a legibly written and signed veterinarian report, outlining the complete medical history since the purchase. In addition, all laboratory records used to determine the diagnosis should also be furnished to Range View Kennels.

Any diagnosis in question is subject to conformation by a veterinarian chosen by the seller. Should the seller’s veterinarian not concur with the previous diagnosis, the matter may be presented to a third veterinarian mutually agreed upon by the buyer and seller. All costs for the third examination shall be the responsibility of the buyer. Upon verification, the seller will offer at buyers’ option, a comparable puppy/dog as a replacement, or refund the purchase price to the buyer.

The buyer agrees to take any and all measures necessary to assure the future health and well being of the purchased puppy/dog. The buyer further agrees to maintain an effective vaccination program including routine follow-up examinations by a licensed veterinarian. Should the buyer become unable or unwilling to provide for the well being of the puppy/dog they will notify Range View Kennels for assistance in placing the dog in a suitable new home.

Hip Dysplasia Guarantee:

Your puppy/dog is guaranteed to be free of defects associated with Hip Dysplasia for a period not to exceed thirty (30) months from their date of birth. Since one or more of the causes of Hip Dysplasia is thought to be genetically linked, the following conditions are required of the buyer. Should the buyer choose not to have the procedure performed the Hip Dysplasia Guarantee shall become null and void.

At an age acceptable to the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (hereafter referred to as OFA), between 24 and 30 months of age the puppy/dog’s hips should be x-rayed and those x-rays and application sent to OFA for evaluation and certification.

The buyer will be responsible for paying all costs incurred for the x-ray and the OFA certification of their puppy/dog. Should the puppy/dog fail the OFA certification process the buyer may exercise one (1) of the following options:

Upon verification of spay/neuter of the diagnosed dog. (1) A replacement puppy/dog (of comparable value to the puppy/dog at the time of purchase) will be made available to the buyer, subject to availability. (2) A refund to the buyer a sum of money equal to the original purchase price, less any shipping fees or additional expenses incurred by the buyer.

If at any time this puppy/dog is used for breeding purposes, prior to OFA certification “ALL GUARANTEES” become null and void. It is agreed by both parties “Under no Circumstances” shall the seller be responsible for expenses incurred for diagnosis or treatment of the condition. In addition, the buyer agrees the seller in no way shall be responsible for any other expenses, liabilities, or loss of revenue associated from the condition.

Performance Guarantee:

Your newly purchased puppy/dog was bred with the intent of producing the highest quality German Shorthair Pointer imaginable. Our goal at Range View Kennels is to produce German Shorthair Pointers with characteristics that will make them suitable for a variety of sporting applications. Since quality has a high degree of subjectivity, certain needs and desired skill levels vary vastly from individual buyers, there can be no guarantee of performance offered or implied.

In the event a puppy/dog does not meet your expectation, every effort will be made to assist you in placing your puppy/dog in a home better suited for their ability and personality. Again, because breeding and training are not an exact science we can not offer any form of performance guarantees.

Temperament Guarantee:

The breeding program at Range View Kennels is predicated on only breeding individuals who exhibit the highest qualities of temperament and demeanor. The tendencies of a dog, or their offspring, are in many cases a culmination of their genetics make-up as well as life experiences. These traits can be further compounded by the training techniques used in the development of the dog.

Since there is undoubtedly a link between the traits and a dog’s genetic make-up, we at Range View Kennels place a very high importance on these factors. We feel the traits associated with the aggressiveness or shyness of a dog is an undesirable quality.

The tendencies toward aggressiveness or shyness would make the dog unsuitable for training as well as for use in breeding. Further any offspring resulting from that individual would be suspect toward exhibiting these traits. For this reason, these individuals will not knowingly be offered for sale.

The tendency of a dog toward being shy is for the most part a man made condition. Though there are certainly genetic factors that contribute to these tendencies, it for the most part is believed to be highly dependent on the dog’s life experiences. Many of these tendencies are felt to be associated with the socialization of a puppy. We at Range View Kennels feel our program of imprinting our puppies from the first days of their life is a critical part of the dog’s development.

The tendency of a dog to become “Gun Shy” is felt to be linked to the shyness of an individual. Individuals showing, or producing puppies, with these tendencies are not suitable for our breeding or training program. If such a trait were exhibited these individuals will be removed from our program and offered to owners who are able to offer the dog a life only as a pet.

Since there is a high degree of uncertainty in the future temperament of a puppy/dog it is not possible for us to offer our clients a guarantee on these traits in our dogs. Though we feel our puppies/dogs are unlikely to exhibit these traits it is up to the buyer to select individuals whom they feel are best suited toward their desired needs and training techniques.

Pedigree Guarantee:

We at Range View Kennels are committed to the highest degree of honesty and integrity in our breeding program. We offer to our clients the pledge that we will always abide by the rules established by the American Kennel Club (AKC) for registering of puppies/dogs. Our commitment to you our client is that we will never be a part of any fraudulent activity or knowingly breed individuals where such activities are evident.

With the development of the new DNA technologies many questions have surfaced about the validity of individual dog’s registration and pedigree. This could certainly in the future bring to light issues of ethics and may ineffably question the integrity of some owners and breeders.

Since the pedigree of an individual puppy/dog is predicated on the honesty and integrity of the breeder, as well as the breeders and owners of countless previous generations, many of these issues are well out of our control. Because of this we feel the validation of pedigrees and the enforcement of rules of registry lie in the competent hands of the American Kennel Club.

Due to the uncertainty the ramifications of DNA testing may bring and the possible questioning of pedigree and registry validity, we do not offer any form of guarantees on registry and pedigree beyond those issues within our control. We have no reason to suspect a problem within our kennels but should an issue arise every reasonable effort will be made to resolve the situation in a timely manner.

All sales of puppies/dogs by Range View Kennels shall not offer, or imply any form of responsibility or liability for the validity of a puppy/dogs pedigree. The responsibility of Range View Kennels shall be limited to only those breeding issues under our direct control.

It is mutually agreed to as a condition of this purchase agreement that Range View Kennels assumes no liability for any costs or damages incurred as a result of the validity of a puppy’s/dog’s pedigree or registry. It is further agreed that Range View Kennels shall not be responsible to any subsequent owner of this puppy/dog, or to owners of future generations resulting from the breeding of this individual.

Shipping Guarantee:

Due to the distance between Range View Kennels and some of our clients, it is sometimes impractical for them to pick up their puppy/dog at our kennels. At the request of the buyer, we offer to assist them with the shipping of their puppies/dogs by Priority Parcel Service (Approximate cost is $325) via commercial airlines.

Since shipping can place the puppy/dog under extreme stress a Health Certificate is required by the airlines. The certificate will be obtained from our veterinarian within ten (10) days of shipment and be provided to the shipping company. Should any health issues arise due to shipping conditions or shipping stress, a claim between the buyer and the shipping company may be warranted. Because these conditions are beyond our control, the seller assumes no responsibility or liability for the carrier’s actions. All shipment costs are the responsibility of the buyer and must be paid no later than twelve (12) days prior to the puppy/dog shipping.

Deposits & Payments:

Litter picks are based on the order of deposits received. There are no guarantees implied to the availability of a particular sex or color.

Litter picks will be made at four (4) weeks of age. Failure to make required picks in a timely fashion, as determined by RVK will be cause for your pick to be skipped over and for your pick to be placed at the end of the list.

Puppies are ready to go home at seven (7) weeks of age (49 days). Final payment for your puppy is due at that time. Failure to make final payment after eight (8) weeks of age will constitute abandonment and your deposit will be forfeited and the puppy will be re-sold unless prior arrangements are made and agreed to in writing.

Puppies left in our care after eight (8) weeks of age will be charged a boarding fee of $10.00 per day up to ten (10) weeks of age. Payments of all boarding fees must be paid in full prior to the release of the puppy by RVK.

Puppies being shipped will be kept at no charge until nine (10) weeks of age provided all shipping conditions have been met.

Puppies left after ten (10) weeks will be considered abandoned and all payments will be forfeited and puppy will be re-sold unless prior arrangements have been made and agreed to in writing.
