Ruby & Canyon working out in the yard!

This is Ruby and Canyon. Both are Rio puppies from different litters. Ruby is a sister of Breeze and Canyon is from a litter with Timber. They are looking to be a formidable bird hunting team. They own the Kempster’s in Lewiston Idaho.

Earth Day Planting!

We had two days of storms that left us some snow. The sun came out today and melted it all away. We hope that’s the last of the snow this year.

A couple of days late for Earth Day, Jenni and I spent the day planting trees we got from the Colorado Forest Service. On the south side of the house we planted some Hackberry’s, Sumac and some Cherry trees.

On the southeast corner of the kennels we planted nine Elm trees. We hope in a few years they will provide some shade on some of the outside kennel pens.

Lacey is due to have some puppies this week and we are as ready as we can be. As the storm finished passing through yesterday we completed all the prep work for our new arrivals. We’re very excited!

Hard Days Work!

Today we went out to the Chico Basin Ranch and guided a hunt for the Box T Cowboys. It was a nice 40 degree day and the quail were flying. Rio, Josie, Willow and Murphy did a great job putting up the birds. Each of them had their time to shine. They worked hard and at the end of the morning 16 quail were shot. We came home, hosed off the mud and they were so tired they all crashed taking a well deserved nap.

February Quail Flurry

What a great day to hunt quail! Box T Cowboys hosted there first Quail Flurry. It was a great day. The weather was nice and the quail were flying. There were morning and afternoon hunts, along with clay shooting all day. A good time was had by all.

I guided for several groups. Murphy, Rio, Izzie, Willow, Josie and Abby, a dog just finishing our training program did a fantastic job making the hunting easy and enjoyable.
